Curtis was raised here in Roane County since the age of 8. His grandfather, Roy Bunch, is the founder of Bunch Marine. Curtis came to work for him at the tender age of 9. He now has more than 50 years in the marine business.
His grandfather taught him to rig boats, service engines, and order and sell parts and accessories. By the age of 16, he was handling all the ordering, including new boats, motors, parts, and accessories.
His grandfather strongly believed in training, so he went to factory outboard training and attained a Master Technician Certification, which he maintained for many years.
His grandfather sold Bunch Marine in 1978. Curtis moved away to take a job outside the boat business. In the spring of 1980, he was approached by the current owner. At the age of 23, he was very fortunate to get a loan from the bank and buy Bunch Marine, returning it to the family fold. He began by leasing the property from his grandparents and then buying it after several years. He eventually purchased the adjoining two acres and has steadily grown since then.
Having been raised in the marine business, he has a passion for being on the water, whether it’s a fishing tournament or just boating with family and friends.
He has been married to his best friend, Shelia, for many, many years. Together they have 4 sons, a daughter, two granddaughters, and a grandson.
Mark was born and raised in Bunch Marine as his grandfather built it. When he was in high school, he started working here and helped maintain the shop. In his 26-year career, he has done everything from cleaning boats and servicing engines to parts and boat sales. Mark currently holds Mercury Outboard Certification, and for a time held his OMC Certification. He looks forward to bettering his career by working toward Mercruiser Certification and a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Management. Mark enjoys pleasure fishing and recreational boating on the weekends with his family and friends. As a family man, Mark and his wife, Angie, have three beautiful kids. His oldest daughter, Allison, 22, is a graduate from University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He has twins, Marcus and Mackenzie, 16, who play competitive and high school soccer. Mark and his family also enjoy hiking in the Great Smokey Mountain State Park. Mark has dedicated his career to this business and works to help make Bunch Marine the best family business it can be.
